AIG: Avoiding Impersonation Fraud
Not every creative challenge begins with a blank page. Sometimes it begins with information that people need—but don’t necessarily want—to absorb.
Working with RiskAnalytics on behalf of AIG, I helped reimagine the company’s approach to employee training around impersonation fraud. The subject matter was necessarily detailed, the legal requirements were extensive, and the brand standards left little room for improvisation. The challenge wasn’t simply to communicate the information accurately. It was to create something people would actually pay attention to.
Rather than relying on a traditional presenter or slide deck, we proposed an illustrated motion graphics approach built around visual storytelling. Through a cast of stylized characters, seamless transitions, and a cohesive graphic language rooted in AIG’s visual identity, the training became more approachable without diminishing its seriousness. Storyboards guided every scene, transforming complex security concepts into a narrative that employees could follow—and remember.
The finished video marked a departure from AIG’s previous training materials while remaining faithful to the company’s corporate standards. More importantly, it demonstrated something I continue to believe: When information is thoughtfully designed, people are more likely to engage with it, understand it, and carry it with them long after the presentation ends.
